One of my favorite quotes, shorter monologues actually, involves passion and what it entails. Passion can be defined in many ways but this is one of the most powerful ones.
“Passion, it lies in all of us, sleeping… waiting… and though unwanted… unbidden… it will stir… open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us… guides us… passion rules us all, and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love… the clarity of hatred… and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we’d know some kind of peace… but we would be hollow… Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we’d be truly dead.” -Angelus (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
So how can we define passion in our own way? It’s something we fight for, want and need. It’s what drives us to take action and speak. Passion calls us and gives us a purpose in life. Often times, this is something that is very difficult for us to understand. We go through our lives searching for meaning and clarity. We want to understand and know. But, we have to have a driving force or without it, we would be lost. What are you passionate about and what drives you? Passion is strong and it sometimes, it does work miracles. We have to thank it for that. We all have something we live for and passion brings out those emotions. It brings out the powerful feelings of determination, the need for answers and the cue for our actions. Finding your passion and using it to amplify who you are is something that many of us do, even if inadvertently. Some of us do it with knowledge and on purpose. Passion is what brings out smiles and happiness in people. It allows you to delve into the soul of others. Their passions share what is important to them and the type of person they aspire to me. And in this way, I try to remember this following…
“Do it with passion or not at all.” -Unknown
